Hello everyone, thank you so much for joining us for the November GMM

COVID update

Eric Lee gave an update on the current Club COVID situation. One member came in contact with someone with COVID earlier in the season.

  • Paul H. asked about Covid transmission with wetsuit.
  • Eric responded that there's low risk with hard surfaces but soft surfaces are still unclear. Still working on some system of rotating soft gear.
  • Mark Elgood shared that the PFDs are now under cover and we will be working to provide a limited supply of wetsuits/foulies for sailing with a similar multi-day rotation. Expect to add this in next few weeks."

Officers’ Reports

Commodore: Nicho Waton joins as Co-Commodore. He brings a lot of web expertise. Also call for people who can help (UX, Graphics, etc). Mary: submitted DBW grant, thanked those involved: Eric, Peter, Carolyn & min

Vice Commodore: we had a few new member parties and a game night on zoom. Shout out to Mariya for hosting happy hour earlier in the season and giving ideas for zoom parties.

Port Captain: Call for VDL especially over the holidays, contact Heather or Adelaide.

1st Vice: Memo: JY delivery coming. James: Try to repair boats when you can if you don’t have the skills to complete a repair, at least log the issues.

2nd Vice: Adam Rinder joins Excomm as Co-2nd Vice. He is creating inventory of windsurfing Equipment. Windsurfing had a good season despite Covid, 21 youth lessons, 100+ lessons over the summer. Lots of new equipment, brand new foils, sail, etc.

3rd Vice: The keelboat fleet is doing well, although a little lonely with not many boats able to go out with the restrictions. Daisy is currently out of the water for new bottom paint. Meritorious will be back in service shortly with new standing rigging and some new mast hardware.

Rear Commodore (Sailing): Memo and min gave an unofficial update: There's Ground School Saturdays 1-3pm to learn rigging, Novice Dinghy Lessons on Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm to prepare for Novice test. Starting to do more one-on-one lessons. Rigging practice and Novice fast track is happening. Lessons-on-Demand is still happening.

Rear Commodore (Windsurfing): Regular lessons have finished for the season. We’ll have some lessons on an ad hoc basis until the spring, and more information is on the Upcoming Lessons page. I am hoping to expand the windsurfing instruction at the club, with an emphasis on increasing support for women’s workshops and workshops aimed at Junior or J+ windsurfers. To help me understand what people are interested in learning, I am asking all windsurfers to complete this short survey. Huge thanks to JJ (Jennifer Johnson) for figuring out how to safely start lessons again so we could get so many new windsurfers on the water this season!"

Treasurer's report:

Social activity

Christina hosted Bingo. Ellie won round one. Peter won round two. Jeze won round three. Adelaide won round four. Everyone that played won, woot!

This was a scheduled voting GMM, unfortunately we did not have a quorum so there was no voting.

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful things you do to make this such a great club!!
