Saturday September 20th 2025 2:00PM - 4:00PM

Description

This is an on-the-water testing session for Novices ready for the Junior rating. (This is not for you if you haven't spent a lot of time yet on the water.)

A Senior windsurfer will be on hand to review the Junior Rating Requirements and conduct on-the-water testing. You must register for this session. From the calendar view, click here to register (you must be logged in). If your plans change, please cancel ASAP so other members can participate. This session may be cancelled if conditions are too light (or too windy!). We may do that morning of.

Ideally, you should have already completed the other components of the rating (written test, 2 volunteer hours, rigging test).

Novice to Junior Sailing Test

  1. Sailing 160L board without a centerboard and a sail too big* for conditions

  2. Sail into waves in 11.5-18 mph wind, tack up to the restaurant, gybe back down, and return to the dock

  3. Tacks/gybes do not need to be consistently successful, but the ability to uphaul in the waves, get upwind, and come back down to the dock is required

  4. Proper handling of board launching and returning to dock (stopping 10 feet from the dock, dropping the sail in the water, and paddling to dock)

If you have any questions, please contact Co-Rear Commodore, Randi S. (csc.randi@gmail.com).
