Description

Please read the entire message.

Enjoy a special experience of 4th of July on the water. Since it's a special day, a few notes are in order:

- Expect extremely limited parking on Saturday. Come early. For this reason I put down the start time as 2pm. We will start rigging at 5:00pm. Consider volunteering at the club between 2pm-5pm.

- Bring extra layers, red headlamps (if you have them), snacks, water, PFD

- We will cover a range of topics: heave to, coastal navigation (night version), sound signals, crew overboard (day and night), rudderless sailing, and other topics depending on student interest

- Voyage plan: we will depart and make our way to the western boundary of the senior keelboat area. En-route we will practice crew overboard and rudderless sailing. We will then heave to, enjoy the sunset, have snacks, and enjoy the firework at the western boundary of the senior area.

- The return time is late! Roughly: Fireworks end around 10pm. Get back to Marina at 11pm. De-rigged by midnight.

- I've reserved one spot for anyone who self-identifies as "close-to-being-a-senior." If that is you, and the signup list is full, contact me directly. Two reasons: 1) I've been away from SF bay for a while and would appreciate an experienced sailor on board; 2) I know it's difficult to climb the career ladder at CSC so I want to help you get over the last rung.

Mistakes or suggestions? Don't hesitate to let me know. Excomm & other seniors please feel free to chim in.
